October 11th
We had a great weekend with our 14u boys team finishing in 3rd place in the Midwest Zone. I would like to thank all of our parents that volunteered their time this past weekend to support our club. It was a great tournament and we could not have done it without the help of Barb Zahorik organizing our volunteers. Thank you.
It was so much fun that we will do it again this weekend with our 12 and under coed team. Our first games are at 2:30 pm and 4:00 pm on Saturday. I would like our players to be at the pool by 1:30 pm. Our game times for Sunday will be determined by the results on Saturday.
The 14 and unders will also be playing this Sunday, October 16th at Evanston. So I would ask that all players that are not 12 and under to attend the games at Evanston. Our game times will be 9:20 am and 11:00 am so please arrive at the pool by 8:45 am.

I really appreciate all of the parents that stepped up this weekend on short notice to give up their Sunday morning to help run the tournament. All of the players gained more game experience and it will only help our teams in the future tournaments.
Speaking of games, we will be off this weekend so I hope everyone can find something to do away from the pool.

July 15th
Thank you for participating in our summer league program. It was great to see all of the players improve each Friday when we played the games. The games became more and more competitive and the level of play increased each week. Each of the teams went undefeated at least once each Friday making for some great games to watch.
The club purcahsed a team shirt for each player that participated in the summer league. The shirts were suppose to be delivered to me yesterday and I sat around my house waiting for them all day. Unfortunately they were not delivered in time for our last game day and I did not recieve them until 5:30 pm last night. To make it even worse, the wrong shirts were delivered! I will find out on Monday when our shirts will be shipped and then I will email you a few options for pick up. I apologize for this back and forth but no one is more disappointed and upset then me. I will hold all of the shirts for each player until you are able to pick them up.
Thank you again for a great summer season and I look forward to seeing everyone again in the fall....

• 16 and under boys or girls
• 14 and under boys or girls
• 12 and under coed

Lyons offers practices year round and games during the fall, winter, and summer seasons. Each season will focus on developing individual and team skills. Some of the basic skills covered are ball handling, passing, shooting, and defensive/offensive positioning. Practices will develop to cover more advanced skills such as defensive tactics, offensive sets, 6 on 5, and counterattack.

SPRING
The spring season begins the first week in April and finishes in May. The season focuses on skill development and gaining an understanding of the game. There is also a focus on advanced individual skills and team strategies.
SUMMER
The summer season practices begin in June and ends the third week of July. The Lyons Water Polo Summer League offers practices and competitions during the summer. Practices are held on Mondays and Wednesdays with games being held of Fridays. This is a great introduction to the sport for our area athletes.
The summer season also provides for many opportunities to play other competitive teams at weekend tournaments. There are several area tournaments that we will attend but we will also compete at the National Junior Olympics.
FALL
The fall season begins the third week of August and concludes the last week of October. The fall season offers many opportunities our teams to compete against other area teams on the weekends. Practices are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings. The games will be held on either a Saturday or Sunday at area pools (including LTHS). The season concludes with the teams competing in the Midwest Turbo Cup Championships.
WINTER
The winter season begins the first week in November and ends the third week of February. Practices are held on Wednesday evenings. All players are welcome to participate and learn the game for the first time or continue to develop their skills. The winter season practices continue to build upon the basic skills of water polo and work towards more advanced tactics. A portion of every practice will allow for scrimmages since there will not be as many opportunities to play games against other teams.
